Paddington Crafts

We've gone Paddington mad here at Weekend Box Towers this week with 3 bonus blog activities for you to complete. We've got two crafts and a cooking activity, so grab your blue duffle coat and red hat to get into character and it’s time to get crafty!

Little Paddington

Paddington 1

This craft recycles an old toilet roll tube and is ever so cute! Start by cutting out some little feet for your Paddington and then wrapping some blue paper or felt around him for his coat. We used scrunched up pieces of brown paper for the buttons on his coat, but you could even glue on some tiny buttons or beads if you have some! The fun part is using red paper to make a hat. Stick on his hat, draw on a cute face and Paddington is ready to pack his suitcase and go on another adventure!

Paddington Plate

Paddington 2

This super simple Paddington Plate uses a basic paper plate to make a great little character. We painted it brown and then used a fork to get the cool fur effect. Use PVA glue to stick on some foam eyes, a nose and a mouth. Finish off with a red card hat and you're done!

Mini Paddington Cupcakes

Don't these look great?! The basic chocolate cupcake method that we used is as follows:

  • Cream together 170g baking margarine and 170g caster sugar until pale in colour and smooth in consistency.
  • Mix in 3 eggs one at a time until mixture has combined. Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract if desired.
  • Sieve in 150g of self raising flour and 20g cocoa powder and stir with a wooden spoon in a figure of eight motion (to keep as much air as possible in the mixture!)
  • Divide between about 12-14 cupcake cases and bake at 180 degrees in a fan oven for 12-15 minutes!

In terms of decoration, we piped chocolate icing with a star nozzle to create the fur and melted white chocolate with a few milk choc drops into a circle. An upside down chocolate drop was stuck in this to create the nose! With little blue sprinkles for eyes and printed hats and tags, your Mini Paddington Cupcakes are complete.

We hope you are enjoying the nationwide obsession with Paddington as much as we are and that you give these few activities a go.
