Destructive Dinosaurs Bonus Activities!
Monday 19th February 2018
The dinosaurs have arrived! This week we've got a cool craft for all the dinosaur-loving little ones out there. So get your toy dinos at the ready, because it's time to get crafting.
Salt Dough Dinosaur Fossils
For this cool craft, you will need some small toy dinosaurs, salt, plain flour and water - it's as simple as that! First things first, we're going to make the dough.
In a mixing bowl, mix 1/2 a cup of salt with 1 cup of flour and stir together. Then slowly stir in 1/2 a cup of water. The dough shouldn’t be too sticky, so add a bit more flour if it's too wet. Knead the dough and divide it into equal-sized balls.
Flatten out each ball and make imprints into the dough with your toy dinosaurs! Are you going to make some footprints with your T-Rex? Or maybe use your Stegosaurus' spines or Teradactyl's wings? Try printing with a variety of parts of your dinosaurs.
Place your dough pieces on some baking paper on a baking tray, and bake in the oven for about 1.5 hours on a very low heat. This low and slow method helps harden the dough so that your fossils set.
Take them carefully out of the oven and let them cool down. You could decorate your dinosaur fossils with paint or glitter, or leave them plain! You're all done.
How cool are they?! We hope you enjoy your week and have a fab, dino-tastic time making these salt dough dinosaurs. Rawr!
