Healthy Half Term Snacks

As half term approaches, we've been thinking all things healthy here at Weekend Box Towers. We all know how hard it is to get healthy snacks for kids that aren't full of junk and words we can't pronounce, so we've been looking at some ways to liven up snack time!
Mini Bug Snacks
Whilst this may seem like a faff - why not just give kids a stick of celery?! These cute little animals are a really fun activity to do with your little ones. Spending quality time together AND making heathy treats in the meantime. Sounds like a winner to me!
We’ve just used a variety of fruits and veg here, with celery for the base and either cream cheese or peanut butter for the filling. Grapes make great bodies, as do slices of apple or kiwi.
As you can see we've also used pretzels here - get creative! Although we have used googly eyes just for effect, you can find edible eyes in the baking section of any big supermarket. The cream cheese or peanut butter acts as the glue.
Fruity Yoghurt Ice Lollies
These are another easy, healthy snack to make together. Great for the sunshine (wishful thinking!). All you will need is some fruit, yoghurt, lollipop sticks and an ice cube tray.
Cut the fruit (we used kiwis and blueberries) into small pieces and place in the bottom of each ice cube hole. Cover in yoghurt, stick in a lollipop stick and put them in the freezer for a couple of hours. It really is that easy!
